The first piece of the concert begins with an interplay of shapes and sound. On the paper, two figures—one yellow and one blue/purple—mirror each other like an upside-down and backward pair of F's. They nest together, distinct yet complementary, much like the conversation between music and painting. Aaron’s use of spacious, open tone collections—augmented and whole-tone scales—mirrors this duality, providing a sense of vast possibility.
